OMG that's great! I'm using that one next time I get asked when I'm having a baby.



And why is it being selfish to think baby showers are all about the baby? Sorry but showers are gift grabs. If they were just celebrating the baby's arrival they'd say instead of gifts please donate money to a charity, or just bring a card and the mom (well now both parents have a shower) would open it later. Face it showers, and yes bridal showers fit into this too, are all about the gifts.

Yep it's all commerical now! It's not about getting together to just celeabrate it's about presents and how much so and so spent on ya and you know they take 1/2 the [censored] back so why bother. And besides myself only one other person gave diapers! How crazy is that?! The thing she will really need and use she didn't get much of. Makes no sense to me...........I just know I'm done with ALL SHOWERS and weddings if I can get by with it!

Same with Christmas. The meaning has been lost.

It's not about sharing happiness with the expectant mother. I expressed that in private. Babyshowers are gift-grabs. I feel that way about all showers. It is why I elected not to have a wedding shower. I do not encourage people to spend their hard-earned money on me. And I certainly don't want to sit around while they coo over me and admire/criticize each other's presents. IF I had a child, I would not have a baby shower, either. Because I am that selfish and self-centered. Get a life.
