one of my favorites of Andre's photos is the one behind the link "Tatras" from our website - the fields look like poetry.

Those photos are stunning! Especially the ones of the Tatra mountains.

I look forward to browsing through more of them later. Unfortunately, I have to get back to work now...

Really excellent photos in this portfolio, so varied, covering just about every area of Poland, and each photo accompanied by a very useful and interesting description of either the image or the place. I shall be revisiting this link again and again.

Jaga, I just read your interesting article about All Saints' Day. I didn't know that it was such a big holiday in Poland.

It was also curious that chrysanthemums are considered funeral flowers. I knew this is the case in Germany, and possibly other European countries as well. It's interesting that there seems to be so much more flower symbolism in Europe than in the US.

Susan,

I love chryzantemum in spite of the fact that it is used for all Saints day - or maybe because of it. I guess, this is mainly because of the time of the year when the All Saints Day take place. All fall flowers are really gorgous, big, beauriful

kalia is also used for funerals

Jaga,
I was reading the article about Jablka and it got me to thinking about a discussion Wayne and I had. Do you know the name of the kind of apples they use in Poland? If I had to guess I would say that they were what would be called granny smiths in the States. One of my favorite treats to eat in Poland was apple pie. The apples were a treat by themselves but the wonderful crust was always perfect!

Hollister,

I am not an expert on apples. The most popular early type of apples in Poland - were green ones a bit sour called "papierowka" (paper apples).

Here in this website you have so called "titowka" apples:

my favorite types of apples are always a bit sour. Whenever you do apples cakes - they have to base on sour apples

I will keep on looking on more Polish apples
