Hi there! I'm a newbie too. Both to the forum and to crochet. I actually just taught myself to crochet using a book I got from my grandfather that my grandmother taught herself with (she passed away 3 years ago). I'm loving it so much i can't wait to start on actual projects! I've gotten the sc, hdc, dc, tr, dtr, sl and of course the ch down. I'm working on a simple scarf right now (my first official project) so wish me luck. I'm 33 and engaged. I'm hoping, if all goes well, I may be able to crochet elegant shawls for my bridesmaids for the wedding in May. Or at least something they won't be ashamed to wear lol.

Thank you all so much! I'm having so much fun looking at all these shawl patterns. I'm forwarding a few to my matron of honor (my sister) to get her opinion on which one(s) she likes for the dresses we're having. Don't be surprised when i ask for help ;-) I'm so looking forward to being here you all seem wonderful! *hugs*

Please feel free to ask for help, this is a wonderful group and everyone will jump right in to help <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> How exciting a wedding......We were married at the justice of the peace, I bought a red dress for $20.00 off a clearance rack and I made my white shawl and white gloves, yes it was a cheap wedding but a wedding just the same.

Welcome! And yes, these folks are great - emphasize GREAT - about helping all of us who aren't as experienced as they are. No egos here, believe me! Congrats on the engagement, and best of luck for the future. If God is in it, then it will be good.

Welcome Mag, This is a great group and I've gotten so many great ideas from them. I know you will become addicted to crochet like the rest of us and to this forum. I didn't see a link mentioned to Eva's shawl so I'll add that one here. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14841.aspCongrats on your engagement. Grace
