Oh, how I wish this bird was in my yard! I spotted him yesterday, at work, perched on our tall radio antenna. At first, I looked for a cardinal...then I looked for a blue jay...I kinda thought the singing was coming from the bird on the radio tower, but it was neither of the birds it sounded like.. Then it dawned on me that it was a male Mockingbird. And me without my binoculars!!.. He did lots of aerial displays for me, showing the white under his wings. My boss noticed my excitement, when I came back in to our meeting, and got right up and went out to see it...gee, he might not be so bad after all.. ..(he's new this year). A guy who loves birds can't be all bad....
I drive school bus, and will work for 6 weeks this summer, so I plan to keep and eye on the Mockingbird and maybe see if he attracts a mate. I read that they build their nests in dense bushes or low trees....Anyone have any experience to share with me??
