Thyroid medication as well as an over-active or under-active thyroid will affect your hair and your hair color. I'm not saying that's why yours went bad, just that the thyroid can have an effect.

Hey there. I did the same thing to my hair three years ago.
If the color is semi-permanent then you can wash it out. If not, then try a golden brown permanent color and leave it alone until it gets healthy again. Then you can try some highlights. Be sure to cut off the dead ends. If your hair is long try cutting about 4 inches off. Good Luck!!
