I was reading all the intros and it seems as though a lot of us love to travel. I have a lot of pictures on my desk of the places that DH and I have been to, and so I'm wondering where has everyone been able to travel to that having kids would have made impossible?

Great question!

Thanks to being CF...I have been to:

Maui, Hawaii
Paris, France
Cancun
Isla Mujeres
Las Vegas
New Orleans
Miami
Disney World (I know you can go there with kids but much more fun w/o them!)

And planning a Caribbean cruise in February!

Not where have we been, but what have we done....

DH is in grad school getting his masters, then on to his PhD next year.

I plan on going back to school once he's teaching full time.

We are saving to buy our own house with lots of land.

We drove cross country (San Diego to NY) (NOT something I'd want to do with kids- hee hee)

If we hate our jobs we can give two weeks notice and not worry.

We don't have to have settle in one town while the kids are in school.

And last but NOT least- Early Retirement!!!

oh where to start! my husband and i love to travel too! last year we took a one week caribbean cruise with another couple and this feb. we're going on another 3 night cruise with my parents. we are also going to germany this christmas to visit his family and my husband has promised me that the two of us will spend a few days in berlin!i'm so excited! as you may have guessed my husband is from germany around frankfurst area and thankfully the last couple of times we have traveled around germany a little bit. we also have gone camping quite a few times, gone white water rafting, toronto, traveled to new england, nyc,etc....
while the traveling part is awesome we also have been able to pursue our interests, him with music(he plays bass and is in a band) and me i have been able to be active in political campaigns, started my own cf group, and joined a book club.

last june i also decided to switch careers from teaching to working with disabled adults. i really enjoy and probably would not have had the courage to do so if i had kids to think about.

also my husband and i are planning on retiring early as well. we're hoping in 20 years or so. we're 34 and 35.

so for me being cf has brought a lot of great things esp. since i'm more comfortable about it. i can't say that i'm %100 b/c i still get attitude at times from people but i'm definitely quite comfortable about it.

Well, I love to travel, but havn't really done so with DH (We do plan on traveling in the future). We're newly weds and still a little, umm, poor lol. My husband is AF and I still need to get a job! But we will be making awesome money soon enough, so I'm looking forward to traveling then, CF=)
Also, another reason traveling is a little difficult for us is cuz the kids (My two kitties and my doggie).
Being CF with my husband is great tho! Running around the house nekkid, devoting our entire lives together, always going out on dates, playing our video/computer games together without worrying about some brat needing a diaper change. . .
I LOVE IT

I was a missionary from age 18-34. could never have done that with kids. I have been from Reservations to downtown Beverly Hills in my work. every state in the US.

Let's see...in the eight years we've been married, we've gone to:

San Francisco
Disney World
Long Beach
Boston and the northeast
Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia

Next month we're going to New York City, and in 2007 we're planning an Africa trip (Tanzania) early in the year, and Quebec City in the fall. This list doesn't count all the little weekend trips to Chicago, Indy, and St. Louis.

Traveling is so fun with my honey-pie. <img src="/images/graemlins/lovers.gif" alt="" />
Amazing we managed these places because our California mortgage was so damn high. Looking forward to more traveling now that we're going to have a lower mortgage in beautiful New Mexico.

We've been to:
Victoria, Canada stayed in Oak Bay - husband's birthday. I loved Victoria and what little I saw of Vancouver. My avatar is a picture I took in Bouchart Gardens.

Paris (lovely to look at, not fun to communicate), took a train to the French Riviera, and then drove all along the coast. It was February, no people and plenty of parking in Nice, Cannes, Monaco. Very pretty car trip. Planned it all on our own via the internet.

Las Vegas for my birthday.

Cabo San Lucas another trip for my birthday. Stayed in an all-inclusive hotel, Dreams. They have a very nice Adults Only dining restaurant and swimming pool. Beautiful rooms too.

Car trip from San Francisco via Route 66 to Albuquerque, then north to Denver, then back through Moab, UT last stop Las Vegas again. We brought along our old black lab and stayed in Motel 6's (they allow pets) along the way.

St. John, US Virgin Islands. We stayed in a tiny villa up on a steep hill for our honeymoon. Went in April on the cusp of low-season = good deal.

A timely string for me, as we are leaving for a two-week trip to Ireland tomorrow! NOT something we would be doing if we had rug rats running around.

We both love to travel and its probably one of the top three reasons we remain child-free. Been married six years and have traveled together to:

San Francisco Bay Area/Wine Country (every few years!)
Lake Tahoe
Yosemite National Park, Calif.
Glacier National Park, Montana
Key West
New Orleans
Chicago
New York City
Mexico
Spain
St. Lucia
Destin, FL
