If you have water, go fishing. Sometime ago I read an article about a man in Colorado or Idaho who built his house over a Trout stream and put a trap door in his living room. The idea was to be able to go fishing any time of the year with all the comforts surrounding him. Then there are the people in Michigan who pull their ice fishing huts onto the middle of a lake and then in the springtime they find themselves adrift. Here in the Tidewater, just give me a beach, some surf and very light tackle for a day of fun. I have a friend who has a son who lives near Kill Devil Hills in NC. He makes his living by selling bait fish to charter boats and building custom fishing rods in the winter. If you think this is a mundane job, he makes enough money to afford a $350,000.00 house. I do have some very large tackle for surf fishing and my latest addition was a Tidewater Freeliner filled with 30lb test line. What a great reel and my favorite rod is a Shakespeare Ugly Stick. I cannot afford those reels that cost over $1200 and the rods that are half as much but I do get a little envious of those charter boats that have about $15,000 worth of rods and reels displayed. BTW you can make some very nice lures from used spoons and knives that are bought at yard sales.
