ravioli: I was 17 years old and making dinner for my first boyfriend for the first time (lots of firsts here, I know). Anyway, my mother had already made a batch of her wonderful tomato sauce, so all that was left for me to do was make the ravioli. I took it out of the freezer to thaw, then tossed the thawed-out ravioli into the pot of boiling water...

Ten minutes later, I stood over the sink, in tears, gazing down into a colander full of...MUSH! The doorbell rang and I quickly dumped the ruined pasta (which bore absolutely no resemblance to ravioli at this point) into a serving bowl and buried it in sauce, hoping to disguise it. It didn't work. My ravioli dinner was an absolute mess!

My sweetheart of a boyfriend took one look at my tear-streaked face, placed a forkful of mush into his mouth, smiled, and told me it was the most delicious ravioli he'd ever eaten.

Then he polished off his plate and asked for seconds!

The moral of this story is: never, EVER thaw frozen ravioli before cooking it!
