I did actually complain, but only to the cashier. She looked at me like I had 2 heads. And then she leaned over and whispered "so what do you wear, instead of perfume?" Ummm.... nothing! But I buy "gourmet" soap, which often smells of herbs like mint and sage or like lightly scented flowers. It's possible to smell reasonably good without perfume!!

LOL It's not like you told her you didn't bathe or wear deodorant!

I am a big fan of Garden Botanika (I was a bigger fan when I could actually go to the store and see and smell the product rather than just the catalog and internet). But I always liked "mixing" my own scents, because commercial perfumes tended to make my migraines a lot worse. (Althought I do like Victoria's Secret's Halo).

But I always wear unscented deodorant, because now they are putting so much perfume in the deodorants that they tend to clash with any perfume you put on. And men's deordorant might as well be cologne! When my husdband gets out of the shower at night, his almost chokes me, it's so strong!

I converted my guy to baby powder. Unless he's doing something particularly athletic, he doesn't really need deodorant anyway. I don't quite get how it's possible that little tiny me could smell worse than big old him after a day of yardwork, some people just don't sweat as much, I guess. He does also use antibacterial soap in the shower, that might make a difference. I can't use any brands of antibacterial.

I can wear deodorant, though, although on days when I know I won't be getting sweaty, I opt for powder also. But yes, I definitely use the unscented kind. Once I had a coupon for a new brand, and I mistakenly bought "powder fresh", thinking it would just smell like baby powder..... yikes.

The only perfume that I could ever find that I both liked and didn't have an allergy to was a Lemon Verbena Eau de Toilette that I bought in Paris. It was a teeny-tiny bottle, and once it was gone, it was gone, I have no idea where or how to get more.... I know where to find the parfumerie, though.... I guess it's time to go back to Paris and pick some up!

My worst asthma triggers are perfume, cigarettes and pollen from trees. I don't get asthma attacks often, but when I do get one, it gets bad.

Welcome to the board Norwegianmum (I suppose your name describes you pretty accurately!) <img src="/images/graemlins/viking.gif" alt="" />

It sounds like you've got a bit in common with several of us on here. It's good to hear your attacks don't come very often. Do you keep an inhaler around for emergency attacks?
