Read about it in this article:

I will have to tape the October episode so my son could view it.

OK, I'm trying this again (it keeps kicking me out!)

I love Jo from the SuperNanny. Her advice is always so on target. It is kind of like "Doh, why didn't I think of that?"

It will be interesting to see how she handles autistic kids though. Because they do not always respon to "traditional discipline". They just think too differently, often times.

I had a friend who works in special ed, specifically with autistic kids say on time, "It's like they think around corners".

She said whereas we think from point a to b to c, they'll think from point a to 2 to TT (pi). They'll wind up ten steps ahead of the rest of us, and we'll never know how they got there! We just know they didn't cheat, because guile is one of the personality traits that seems to be beyond them.

So I can't wait to see if Jo is up to the task of handling this situation. But I HATE that they moved it to Wed. nights, that the same night as Top Model. Oh well, guess I'll have to miss one.

Hi There Gitana and welcome to the site. The actual autism episode is slated for the end of October. The second episode on the season premiere night had Dr. Lynn Koegel on helping a family with a child who has Down Syndrome.

I missed the episode of Good Morning America today that had the author of a new autism book. Here in Los Angeles it was pre-empted all day for Fire coverage, even my soap Young and the Restless was not on!

Welcome to the forum and thanks for clarifying the date of the autism episode. I had updated the article but neglected the thread here.

Whenever you have time feel free to share a bit about yourself and child. What is your name, what state are you in, do you get good services and have ample resources?

I gather from your chosen id that your child is two, did you recently get a diagnosis?

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see more of you around here.

Bonnie, I just watched the 10/28 show and they showed next week's show with the family with the autistic son. It looks good! It'll be on 11/4 at 8p.m.

I watched "Supernanny" tonight, the Autism show, I was surprised by how "easy" they made raising a child with Autism look. In just a few tries they got him to repeat words. I have had my son in SLP for a year and a half and he has yet to say anything. I know that it is a spectrum disorder and that every kid learns differently, but I just thought it was made to look easy. The way he ran out the door and his mom didn't even know where he was? I can't imagine not having my doors locked all day just for that reason, I know I can't have him in my sight 24/7 but I take precautions so he doesn't run away. Sorry about the whining but raising an autistic child is ALOT harder than they made it look.
