Whew, its been a while since I've been on here, so I thought I better bring something powerful. Well I've got it.
This song is by Phillips, Craig, and Dean from their "Trust" album (1995) and also appearing on their "Favorite Songs of All" album (1998). These guys are true men of God. They not only write and sing their own songs, they each pastor their own churches.

Randy Phillips is a pastor at the Promiseland West Church in Austin, Texas. Shawn Craig is the music pastor at South Country Baptist Christian Center in St. Louis, Missouri. And Dan Dean is pastor at the Heartland Chruch in Irving, Texas.

And this song just speaks to me. Sometimes I'm just so exhausted from fighting this world, from holding up under the burden of being a Christian in a sinful world. It's draining, it's frustrating, it's lonely. But this song says if we'll just reach out our hand, God will come running FOR us.

MERCY CAME RUNNIN'

ONCE THERE WAS A HOLY PLACE EVIDENCE OF GOD'S EMBRACE
I CAN ALMOST SEE MERCY'S FACE PRESSED AGAINST THE VEIL
LOOKING DOWN WITH LONGING EYES MERCY MUST HAVE REALIZED
ONCE HIS BLOOD WAS SACRIFICED FREEDOM WOULD PREVAIL
AND AS THE SKY GREW DARK AND THE EARTH BEGAN TO SHAKE
WITH JUSTICE NO LONGER IN THE WAY

MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' LIKE A PRIS'NER SET FREE
PAST ALL MY FAILURES TO THE POINT OF MY NEED
WHEN THE SIN THAT I CARRIED WAS ALL I COULD SEE
WHEN I COULD NOT REACH MERCY
MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' TO ME

ONCE THERE WAS A BROKEN HEART WAY TO HUMAN FROM THE START
ALL THE YEARS LEFT IT TORN APART HOPELESS AND AFRAID
WALLS I NEVER MEANT TO BUILD LEFT THIS PRIS'NER UNFULLFILLED
FREEDOM CALLED BUT EVEN STILL IT SEEMED SO FAR AWAY
I WAS BOUND BY THE CHAINS OF THE WAGES OF MY SIN
JUST WHEN I FELT LIKE GIVIN IN

MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' LIKE A PRIS'NER SET FREE
PAST ALL MY FAILURES TO THE POINT OF MY NEED
WHEN THE SIN THAT I CARRIED WAS ALL I COULD SEE
WHEN I COULD NOT REACH MERCY
MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' TO ME

SOMETIMES I STILL FEEL SO FAR-
SO FAR FROM WHERE I REALLY SHOULD BE
HE GENTLY CALLS TO MY HEART-JUST TO REMIND ME

MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' LIKE A PRIS'NER SET FREE
PAST ALL MY FAILURES TO THE POINT OF MY NEED
WHEN THE SIN THAT I CARRIED WAS ALL I COULD SEE
WHEN I COULD NOT REACH MERCY
MERCY CAME A RUNNIN' TO ME [/color]

So if you're tired, or hurt, or lonely; hold out your hand. Or better yet, put them together and kneel, and He'll be there by your side before you've finished saying "Amen"

Why me? What did I do to deserve this?
