I'm a long time FF fan and i recently started replaying FF VII
and i remember in order to defeat the emerald weapon one would need the final attack materia, but IIRC it can only be obtained as a prize for winning the "special" event at the battlesquare.

This event can only be triggered if omnislash and w-summon have been purchased from the prize menu, I've purchased them both but nothing is happening; when i talk to the receptionist she still asks if i want to pay 10 gp to battle but never mentions the special battle. I also have ultima weapon so if that's a prerequisite, it shouldn't be a problem.

So my question is: can I obtain the materia in another way or am I missing something to make the event happen altogether? Should omnislash be in the inventory or should it be learned for the trigger to work?

well i'm not sure what you mean because i havnt played it for years. but i know theres another way to defeat Emerald. i cant remember in full detail but its something like you go in with just one character alive, and they can only be equiped with the materia knights of the round, mime, underwater,w-summon and nothing else. the less materia equipped the less damage you take. you then take a heros drink then summon knights of the round the hero drink gives you 9,000hp each time. you then just mime this until weapon dies easy. to check this out go to cheatcc.com

I heard you need to have the Mime, KOTR, Underwater, Pheonix, A mastered All, All of the huge materia, and of course the submarine to get to him. For some of the materia, I think this includes KOTR, you need a gold chocobo to obtain. Well, if this info doesn't help, you can slap me with a wet fish and call me a dork, I'm used to it XD
