ok well i started taking birth control pills last month.i missed a couple here or there but the directions just said to take double the next day which i did.well i got my period at my normal time.mine usually lasts 3-4 days.5 at the most.this time it was really weird.it started 2 sundays ago.then it stopped on friday night.then saturday afternoon it came back.i didnt think anything of it.then it stopped again sunday night.i thought that was fine.but then it came back again on tuesday afternoon.lasted only about a day but it wasnt as heavy as before.then it stopped and even though i was a little worried i tryed to ignore it.but i felt like something was wrong.well it came back again today.5 days later.and this time its pretty heavy again.this woman i know once told me when she was 26 she got pregnant and didnt know it.and bleed for almost a month before she decided to go to the hospital and they told her she had a miscarriage.im scared that might be what happened since i missed some pills last week.and maybe because i kept taking them that they caused it.i dont know.but i cant go and get checked out. i have no health insurance and not alot of money.please can some one give me an opinion.

Amanda,
Not sure if you worked out your issues, but bc pills cannot cause a m/c. They are only designed to prevent an egg from implanting. Your period might have been off b/c of the hormone fluctuations, particuarly if you are sensitive to those sorts of things. I know I am. Good luck to you.

It could simply just be your body getting adjusted to the pill. If ou just started taking them, and were irregular about them to begin with; then your body probably got a little confused.

Make sure to put your pills in a place where you are sure to remember to take them, like with your cell phone or purse. Or if you have a REALLY hard time remembering, talk to your GYN about the patch. Because you are more likely to get pregnant by taking the pill erratically than if you don't take it at all, just because it will throw your system so far out of whack you won't be able to predict your cycles anymore.

As far as your bleeding goes, as long as you are not passing large clots (ping-pong ball size) or as long as the bleeding is not BRIGHT red (like from a cut - different from your normal period) and you are not bleeding through more than 2 pads in 4 hrs; then do not get panicky. It is possible that you might have had a "miscarriage" - but in this case it would have been that something was not viable with the embryo, so the body released it, and now it will heal. This type of miscarriage is very common, most women don't even realize they have it. There is nothing to feel guilty about, because it would not have had anything to do with the pill.

However, if you start running a fever of more than 101, you discharge starts smelling foul or turning greenish, you start bleeding heavliy like above or passing clots like above. or any hard crampy pains in your lower abdomen or lower back; you will need to see a Dr. (or ER). They have to see you whether you have insurance or not.

Also - hospitals will make payment arrangements with you to pay bills, and as long as you have a payment arrangement made, and you are on time with you payments (and sometimes the payments can be as little as $20 w/ no interest), it will not affect your credit rating.

Before I started having a family, I always put my pills where I kept my money/debit card, or drivers license...seems like I was always in my wallet at least once a day...and I would see them, and remember to take it...not that I am not in my wallet every day now...but I am prego so it is for different reasons!

Hope all is well
