I've been having dreams of a man that I brushed off as merely figments of my imagination for about 20 years now, in them were always scenes depictiing war in different countries that he was in, I assumed the news was causing them. Than I started seeing him becoming a part of my life, even the tatoo on his arm, to his chasing me and catching me, telling me "You didn't think I'd let you go so easy now, did ya Lass" Again I thought figment of my mind, until I made a pen pal, who shared with me pictures of his family and than of his best friend, who turns out to be working in Iraq currently...and who is the man I've been dreaming of the last 20 years??? I don't understand, why I would dream of a stranger and why those dreams of his life, caught up and intertwined with mine?

The first thought that has come to mind is that perhaps it could be past life memories? Perhaps it is unfinished business if you have just discovered him to be an actual person.

I agree with DreamingDragon but also had another thought.....were you separated from a sibling or twin at birth or in your early years? There are many stories of people who have reunited in very strange or coincidental ways.

This guy is clearly of importance for you, whether from a past life, or possibly coming into your life in a much more significant way in the future. My money is on the latter! The dreams have been telling you to keep alert & look out for him. Not sure from your account whether he is being romantic or scary when he chases you. If romantic then <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> if scary than do take care around this character.

No I wasn't seperated from anyone at birth, I was a only girl in a house full of brothers.
I am terrifeid during the chase, yet when he catches me, and I realize it is him, I'm not afraid any longer.
WHen I'm running away from him though, I see him as a wolf part of the time, and than a man again, but always the wolf is part of him somehow.

Being chased in dreams indicates that we are running from or avoiding emotional issues, insecurities or anxieties. This article goes into detail and includes links to animal symbol articles: Dream Symbols-ChaseNormally, I'd have to say that you're running from something that terrifies you only to find out that you're okay with it when it catches up to you. In this instance, this person has actually shown up in your life, so that puts an interesting twist on things. What does it mean to you?

He sounds like a werewolf to me. Perhaps a long long time ago you had family ties in Romania or Hungary, or wherever werewolf legends hail from. A very deep memory from the past letting its presence be felt in your dream. I am suggesting this based on something my family has just discovered, a genetic link to a place I have Always Been Afraid Of. From 10,000+ years ago! Or it could be what Parthena said.

Out of curiosity, GreenLeaf, Is it common to say "lass" where you're from?
That's what made me come to the conclusion that it could be 'unfinished business' or something like that from a previous life if "lass" isn't a word that is commonly used where you live. I know that if a dream character referred to me as "lad", I'd be thinking that perhaps it has some relation to a previous life way back when.

No I live in America, it is not a common word we use here. But the country the guy comes from is Scotland, and over there it turns out to be a common word. I haven't met him, I've only seen his pictures and videos of him, I'm pen pals with his best friend.

A note that no one has pointed out is that perhaps you 2 are soul mates and have always known of each other subconsciously. Also, what of the tattoo? That would be a very identifying mark in regards to the contents and location of it.
