I think they say that pregnant women can't drink caffeine also. I would just DIE without my coffee everyday I mean just DIE. I would probably get fired too, since there would be no way I could function! Reason # 10,000 not to have kids. Selfish? Maybe, do I care, no!

Pregnant women can't do ANYTHING! No herbal tea, no hot baths, no this, no that...because if a white bird with a black spot on its head is flying over on the third Tuesday of the month while it's raining and it craps on a blue foreign car, something MIGHT JUST MAYBE happen to the baby.

Screw that. I refuse to let something or someone dictate my life that way for nine months! I will have my baths, my tea, my coffee, my cocktails, my nothing-but-junk-food-if-I-so-choose, dammit!

Nothing is wrong with being selfish! I'm only going to live this life once and I am going to make damn sure I enjoy it while it lasts. I could not do all the the things I enjoy with children. I don't really care if people think I'm selfish. I read a comeback to this reponse here on this board and thought it was perfect...

Breeder: You're selfish.
CF: Just one more reason for me not to have children!!

I guess we all have our definition of selfish. My definition says a person is selfish when she focuses on her own wants and needs without regard for others. Thus, having children is an extreme act of selfishness. Few people consider how the unborn child and future person will be affected. They only think, "I want a baby!"

I agree, Selfish people should not have kids. I am selfish, and want to continue to be. If I had a kid I know I would do whats right and raise it and give my life up. but Since I dont have a kid I can be selfish. And thats fine with me.
