I ran across a web site with an easy to read lead into the difference between Polish (or Czech or Slovak) and English. Normally we Americans of any heritage get glazed eyes when Poles start talking of six cases and that multiplied by proper declensions. We have enough trouble managing our simplified English!
I find the approach at
http://www.gbarto.com/multilingua/slav1/blog/2004/06/slavic-cases-learning-tips-i.htmlto be easy to read and follow. It may not help me to master the language without study and practice, but it appears to be a great tool for picking up on the more subtle constructions and logic of the langages.
I hope it will help my understanding of the language and perhaps bring my survival langauge skills up to a bit higher level.
Czech it out:
"This weblog introduces vocabulary and basic grammar concepts in three major Slavic languages, one item at a time. Follow the posts and become a polyglot."
