but it is still the highest in EU. I guess, the possibility for people to work helped the situation. At least it helped my sister in law who has a job in GB now.

here are some articles about Polish unemployment:

i was at an Atlantic City Casino last week and surprised to see how many of the employees were from Poland. All employes wear name tags and where they are from. I got to talk to quite a few of them and they loved to hear that I spoke Polish. Seems they come when school is out and work here to earn more money than they can in Poland. When school starts they return to Poland. They must make out okay because they pay thier airplane ticket plus the agency that handles it all for them.
They all seemed like high school and college age.

I don't understand how this is possible, given the visa restrictions we are always hearing about. ???

here in Yellowstone area there are many students - seasonal workers from Poland and Eastern Europe every year.

I guess, it is easier to apply for a legal job especially during the vacation season when they need many more seasonal workers. There is not that many restrictions for this kind of temporary employment.

Restrictions were harsher in the past, but I easily got my student`s F1 visa in 1990. Students are not considered by American consuls as potential immigrants to the USA. They always come back ha ha ha ha.

It is good that young people seek jobs in the West. They not only earn more money, but also learn the language and Western style of work. As far as I know, they don`t really think of staying abroad for life - their primary goal is to make a career in Poland. Western experience might help it a lot.

I've noticed quite a few people from Poland working all over the east coast in the U.S. I actually have a family friend who has 2 years left in college and is seeking to leave the country for sometime to be able to pay off the credit she took out to pay for college. I believe all it takes is an invitation from someone in America that they'll take care of them or whatever and the process becomes easier. Women from Poland can find jobs such as cleaning homes or taking care of older people. One girl I know lives with an older woman, takes care of her, and makes $700 a week in cash. Whatever it takes to get things paid off.

In the South - like Texas or West- there are many Polish professors at the universities ... not that I have something against cleaning the houses but still - these jobs are taken by hispanic but Poles work at the jobs which require high education level
