Hello peeps!

While reading throughout this forum I see, they are lots of people who not just only love, but also understand to the dogs. Let me, please, ask a question. I am an owner of a dog - Czech Fousek, whom I love in a way, I cant even express here, because You would think I am not a healthy person. I love my dog Ikar, but also the breed in general. Sometimes I think about buying another puppy. Id like to ask You, do You think it is a good idea??? I would like to have 2 dogs of this breed, but I dont want to hurt my dog. Do You think, he will be jealous and stuff like that??? I am asking because Ive heard different opinions. Some people are telling me, that when are 2 dogs, they dont feel so lonely, when You leave them at the home, and that they have a bunch, so it is more natural living for them. But some other people are telling me, that it is not a good idea at all, because since Ive got Ikar for 7 years, he used to be the king of the family and could become very jealous and hurt. . . For me to have 2 dogs is not very important, but it would be very nice to have one more to love. Please give me an advice, thank You.

We have 3 dogs...making the transition from one to two was hard for our female but going to the third one was easier. She pouted and refused to eat and acted like she was upset for around a week. At first she wouldn't have anything to do with the "new" dog. Once she got used to having another dog around she was ok with it. Do you have friends that have a dog and you could take yours over to have play dates? That might be a good way to see how he would react to another dog.

I've got 3 dogs too. Hi Connie!

It was easier for me to add the 2nd dog, because she was a young puppy & my older dog just kind of adopted her. The 3rd dog caused more of a problem because he was a bit older when he came here (7 months) and my older dog seemed to think he would hurt "her puppy".

I would invite another dog over to your house & your yard if you have a friend with a dog. Or even find a dog park where you can meet other people & their dogs to see how well your dog plays with others.

Thank You very much for Your comments and advices! My dog is quite friendly with other dogs. Here in Prague (Czech Republic) people usually go with dogs in parks, where they meet (both - people and dogs ) in huge amount. I am sure he wouldnt fight with a puppy, but I was worried, that he could feel betrayed by me, You know, if Id bring home another dog, he could think I dont love him anymore. Well, I really dont know, but thank You for Your advices once again - it gives me a little more puppy hope

Hi I have had several dogs at one time and I loved it, but it became a problem because they wanted to romp around the house at full bore and crash into things. We don't have a real big house and 2 dogs were alot of trouble. They tried to run off and run first chance they got. Do remember that when you get a puppy that you have to spend alot of time with the pup and the other dog will get upset because you aren't giving it the attention. I am not trying to talk you out of anything just trying to help in checking all aspects before you make a decision. Good luck.

We have 2 golden retreivers. They are sisters from the same litter and it has been a bit crazy but great. We are gone a lot and so they have each other to play with and it has been better for the dogs if not for us.

I just added a second puppy to my household. His name is Riley and he is such a cutie. I wasn't planning on getting a second dog but I am such a sucker for those little puppy faces. I have a 5-year-old Basset and she likes Riley more on the weekdays because I take him to work with me so she gets a break from him. But on the weekend she gets a little tired of him. Dolly was very jealous at first but she came around after about a week and now she acts like Riley's mother.

I've got 2 boys from the same litter. They love each other and I love them both. Obviously, they have been castrated, and in their 5 years there have been no fights, no running away only calm "peace and love". They wash each others face in the morning and share the same food dish. They are jelouse of my effection, but I share as best I can. They are my boys.x.

I personally think it is a wonderful idea to have two dogs. Your dog may feel jealous at first, but they are natural pack animals and it is not as if they can't form strong bonds with another animal. I personally have 4 dogs(15 lb mutt, 40 lb American bulldog, 75 lb lab/hound mix and 100 lb Rhodesian ridgeback) and while there is indeed some jealousy at times for the most part they love each other(aside from my Rhodesian who would prefer to be left alone since he is an old man lol)

I've had as many as 3 dogs at one time and one was 110 lbs! that was a little much but our big guy, Charlie, died about a year ago at the age of 13. Since then we've had 2 dogs and they really love each other.

Our lab was 5 when I got a new puppy from an animal shelter where I volunteered. Since Molly was so little when I got her and playful, she really got the other 2 playing too. Now my two dogs are best friends.

I have some photos of them playing in the snow on my knitting blog if anyone would like to see them. We had 10 inches of snow in north TX yesterday!
