Hello!

I have four 8' tall x 4' wide x 2.5' deep, dense holly bushes in front of my home that are currently shaped in rectangles. They are much too big and I'd like to change their shape (the monolith thing just doesn't work with the house ) and the size. How much and when can I trim these monsters?

Thanks for any assistance you can offer!

Unofficial TP. I have several types of Holly bushes and even a Holly tree and I trim mine a lot. Hollies are very primitive and slow growing plants so do not be afraid to trim them hard if you have to. I had to move a couple of my Holly bushes. I trimmed them almost down to their main stems and then moved them. The Hollies came back as if nothing important happened to them. Don't be afraid.
