Before you go on vacation, do you eat normally, or do you become more stringent in an attempt to lose a few extra pounds?

Once you go on that vacation, do you immediately abandon all caution and begin eating everything bad you can get your hands on?

Well it happens to us all, it's like spending too much. You regret it, and you go back on budget, and you pay off those credit card bills It's never permanent, you can always work to get to a more healthy state again

I maintain my low-carb eating plan pretty much all the time, I only abandon it at holidays, and even then, usually only for a meal or two. Once in awhile I'll cheat if I'm somewhere were I REALLY want to try a restaurant and I just want to go for the real deal, but usually, when on vacation, I stick to the plan.

I should note that I often go on tour with my S.O.'s band, we've gone all over (I've been to 44 states in the last 2 years), so we travel a LOT. If I don't stick on the plan while I travel, that means I am off the plan between 25% and 50% of the time (depending on the time of year). That's way too much to keep me at my desired weight.

I stay on plan unless there is something REALLY special I want to do, like try a fine dessert at a place known for those things. If that's the case, then I make sure to be really good with carbs for a while after, and make sure I get my daily walk in.

That's very good advice, Jilly. Everything has a balance. If you eat a slice of chocolate cake and then walk around town with your friends for an hour afterwards, you might in fact be in better shape than you began with. Find something pleasureable to do to exercise the sugary food away.

Yes, I made the mistake of telling my parents I would go off Low-carb for a good, old fashioned, NY Deli-styled Black and White Cookie. They, of course, went to the nearest Jewish restaurant and brought me home one. It was delicious!

And then I went for a nice long walk.

That was what happened when I went to Japan last Nov for almost a week .

Initally I thought I would be able to resist temptations but it was really too much for me to handle so I eventually give in almost daily .

I felt horrendous when I was downing the ramen (japanese noodles) & I ate so much fried japanese chicken to the extent that I feel I almost wanna puke.

But in a way it was good cos I wouldn't get the chance to eat such things & besides , how often does a person travel & go to Japan to eat authentic japanese food?

& not to mention I started slipping in the flights to japan & back home.

Eventually I think I gained some of the weight back but I managed to get back on track the next day when I came back home.

I always slip from time to time but it's ok . No 1 will be there to say that I have committed a sin or whatever . I'm not perfect but hey , I can learn from this kinda siutations..

LOL that is funny, because actually most Japanese food is low carb. I imagine if I went to Japan that I would be eating sashimi every day, and losing weight

LOL , I was there almost a week & was exposed to all kinds of high carb food almost everyday .

I think it depends on which part of Japan you're going though . Then again I'm not sure myself
