Turns out Frank is now back in the hospital, but his daughter Judy hopes he will get out next week.
Here is a letter from her:
Hello,
This is Judy, Franek's daughter. For the life of me, I cannot navigate through the Forum. I have tried and I give up. I managed to find your e-mail address and trust that you will pass along this information for me.
First of all I want to thank each and every one of you who sent , and will continue to send, cards and flowers. You just have no idea what it means to him. We have a very small family and he really has no personal friends. Therefore, all of you are his family and cherished friends. I cannot elaborate enough the depth of his appreciation. If you could only see how he lights up when I bring something from you. I read him the cards and the notes and the flower messages and he cries. Then he proceeds to tell me about each and every one of you. You are truly special people. Thank you so much.
Here is a synopsis of Frank's illness.
In May he came down with a cold which quickly led to pneumonia. I rushed him to the hospital. He remained there for three weeks. He stabilized and was transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he remained for three weeks until I demanded that he be rushed back to the hospital. He was terribly dehydrated. After two more weeks he again stabilized. At that point he wanted to come home. My husband and I moved out of our home and into my parent's house. We brought dad home where he remained for 6 days. Again, I had difficulty getting him to take fluids. This past Monday I again took him back to the hospital. He was again dehydrated and had pneumonia. In the course of all of this, he suffered two small strokes. His speech is now much better, as the rehabilitation and physical and speech therapies worked well. He cannot walk because he is too weak and his vision is poor. He is clear and lucid in mind but extremely frustrated being stuck in bed. He continues to improve. As of this morning he is clear of pneumonia and is doing well. When he is discharged, perhaps next week sometime, he will go to another rehab facility. It is very close to home and will make things and traveling easier for me. He realizes that coming home, back to the house, is just too much for me. It was a 24 hour job and I was getting no sleep.
The cards have been wonderful and special thanks for the flowers and the song book. I cannot read Polish........but, as luck would have it...I randomly opened the song book to a page and I recognized the song UMARL MACIEK....OJ DANA....as I remember it from my childhood. Dad sang it all of the time. The items from Poland just wowed him. There are so many names and people that I have to thank, but you know who you are and I hope that you understand that I do not have the time to thank each one of you individually. But please continue because it is a tremendous help in his recovery.
And if someone can tell me how to operate in the Forum, I would love to learn, but my time is limited.
If you post this letter for me...I am asking that everyone write me with your e-mail addresses so I can try and correspond with you personally. My messages will be brief, but personal. You may contact me at the following address:
