My mother-in-law, Sandy Taylor, had to have a mastectomy back in March due to infiltrating ductal carcinoma (HER/neu 2). Luckily it had not gotten to her lymph nodes, but the "markers" showed that it was starting to move that way, so her oncologist wanted to go ahead with chemotherapy treatments- 6 rounds, she'll do her 5th round this Friday.

She has absolutely amazed me during this time. She sends out e-mails to her friends and families about her progress, but the funny thing is, half of her e-mails are taken up with concerns and prayer requests for others. This is a totally self less lady!

For those of you that are going through this same difficulty, I thought you might be interested in reading her "Blog" (it's basically her e-mails that my husband has posted on our family website). She is definitely an inspiration. <img src="/images/graemlins/heart.gif" alt="" />

The website is www.the-taylor-family.org and just go to the blog page.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for sharing Sandy's blog and your personal photo gallery. What a nice looking family you have!

It sounds to me as if Sandy has been receiving her Herceptin after her regular chemo treatments. Would you mind sharing with us just how long after chemo she started Herceptin?

One of our members needs to know if Herceptin would be effective about a year and 1/2 after receiving her chemo.
I would think so, but, of course I am not a doctor and am hoping that someone here may be able to get the answer for her.

Thanks for posting and many well wishes for Sandy.

Best to you,

Pamela Coombes, Editor Breast Cancer Site
