Is it better to use the same brand of products at one time? Or, is it okay to mix and match brands until you get the right combination for what you want to do to your hair?

Just curious! Thanks!! Tina

The manufacturers say to use only one brand at a time so that the products work well together. That does make sense. However, I usually have products from two or three brands on my hair at one time. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

My hair is curly and needs a blend of several products to soften it and to control the frizz.

Thanks for the reply! I usually can't even find all the products I need/am looking for in the same brand. Plus, sometimes I buy expensive leave in conditioners or what not but buy cheaper shampoos like Pantiene or even Suave in a pinch.

Hi TinaC,
If you intend to use the same brand and the same products over a long period of time, you will notice that after a while the products don't give the exact same results as from when you started using them. Certain products focus on one or more nutrients while they neglect the other. The best thing you can do is experiment and see if you can find other brand which give you a nice result just like your current products do now. Why does this happen? The new product may focus on other nutrients, so that it can balance the other nutrients that are now in your hair due to using your current product. So you can get a balance in those nutrients which are now in a lower amount available.

Experiment is the best thing you can do, but mixing different products together, that I never tried before.

Greetings.

Guess what? I give massages and reiki. More info here!
