Does anyone know where I would be able to find information and instructions about cross-stitching on crochet?

I have seen some pictures that I would be interested in crocheting on an afghan or even for pillows, but am not sure how to do the cross stitch on crochet. I am assuming you do not want your cross stitching to show through the other side of your work, or is that wrong?

Any help in this area would be appreciated.

A couple of years ago, I did a blanket in which some of the panels were cross-stitched on. It was just a plain sc panel in off-white. It turned out really pretty. I'm sorry I don't have a pic, I gave it to my MIL. Anyway, just treat each stitch as a block on the cross-stitch chart. I just weaved the ends in. BTW, the back wasn't as neat as the front, but no ends were sticking out. Does this help?

I know there are instructions out there, I've seen them. Do a Yahoo or google search. the one thing i remember about it is that you have to use either the afghan stitch or sc. I'll search around and see if i can find it...but there are detailed instructions out there on the net. I'll look around.

Thank you Samantha and Melissa. As I was thinking about it further on the weekend, I suppose you cross stitch as a regular cross stitched item. One side will obviously be nicer than the other. I was hoping there was a way that the stitches on the wrong side were hidden. The only simple way I see that happening is to sew fabric on the other side of the afghan.
