Hussar,
In your pictures of the family party, you call those girls "niewolnik" - that means "slave" in my dictionary -- what's up with that?

Hussar,
are you going to obtain a Polish passport? How nice! In the old days one have to wait weeks or months and the passsport was easily refised. I had to show up every day at a certain time at the line of people waiting for it...
now I guess, it is much easier!

Nancy.... Those 2 girls are the middle child and youngest out of 3 girls. Last time we were in Poland I started calling them that because whenever I visited them, they were always cleaning and they never took any breaks. At first it was just to get the typical kid reaction, but it stuck. (I don't do it to be mean)

Tomek,
I see in your webshots albums that you have been to some family parties and you have a new haircut!
What are the blue-and-white decorations that are being prepared in the party album? Any special significance to those?
PS. I have wondered how the Polish can keep their places so clean and spotless. At my cousin's house, not a blade of grass is out of place. Obviously someone must work 24/7 to keep it that way. I hope the girls get some breaks this year.

Yes, I have been to a few family and friend parties and my hair is pretty much back to normal after my haircut.
The blue and white decorations are part of what we like to call "Praca Spoleczna." A family friend has a wedding reception business and she decorates the halls and the room for the reception. She had a bunch of us helping her make more decorations.
Keeping the places clean and spotless is a ritual in Poland (at least where I am). It's like going to Church haha. They clean the house every saturday and the grass is usually pretty low in that village because people mow the grass and use it as food for the farm animals.
Ahhhh.... this week I watched Wesele, Zrobmy Sobie Wnuka, and Superprodukcja (because it rained for two days here). It looks like it might rain again today and tomorrow. I was supposed to go to Krakow today, but I have no ride because the lady who owns the wedding business also owns a funeral home and prepares the flowers and other things for the funeral. She received a request to do a funeral today and I'm lounging around here until afternoon/evening when I go to another name day party.
I believe it was you Nancy who got me hooked on Republika a few months ago. I just couldn't resist and I had to indulge. I bought the 13 cd box set and a dvd with music videos and concerts beginning with Opole '83 to Opole '01 I believe.
Well that's all for now.

Went to Krakow today, which was planned at about 9 p.m. the night before. I went to the Ukrainain Embassy and they said that as of July 1, U.S. passport holders can enter without a visa (I believe Forza posted an article on this). I talk some pictures, but they came out a bit blehhh. I went to St. Mary's in the square and paid my 4 zl entrance then they wanted another 5 zl. so i could take pictures... Impossible to take good pictures in there without flash. Stopped into Empik and bought some cd's, movies (Nie Lubie Poniedzialku and Ogniem i Mieczem), and a book about Husaria. Also bought a red fleece with "POLSKA" and an eagle patch on the side. Also got a shirt to match. In the end, we had a very nice meal in the square, had ice cream, and returned. Pictures will be up tomorrow.
