Are you working on losing weight with a low carb diet? Let us know where you are in your progress, and we'll give you a hand!

Last year I went from 140 to 120. Recently I was really sick with the flu and let myself eat whatever I wanted - and got back up to 130. So all I had to do is go back to my regular low carb diet, lots of grilled chicken, salads, broccoli, asparagus, etc. I'm back down to 123 after only two weeks or so and feeling much better.

My boyfriend went from over 300 down to 220. He got a little (ahem) lazy and started ordering pizzas again, and surprise surprise, went back up to 240. Still way better than before, but it made a difference in his baseball playing ability. So he's cooking at home more, and getting back down again

My weight goal is 150, right now I am (*puts head down*) 220. My eating habits are out of control right now. I eat fast food just about every day and I drink Coke obessessively. I've decided that I am going to make a major life change. Today starts my new journey.. I'm heading to the grocery store first thing this morning with my low carb list. I feel like I'm a very long way from losing 70 pounds. Wish me luck!

It might seem like such a distance right now, but it's not. Think about how fast time flies. By starting today, think where you'll be in a couple of weeks! And then you'll turn around and two months have passed. Think forward and you'll see those extra pounds disappear. And feel lucky that you only have 70 pounds to lose. There are lots of folks out there who would love to only have that much to take off! You'll make it.

Amanda - cutting out Coke will be a HUGE benefit to you in so many ways. That was one of the key things my boyfriend did. Also, you have to stop eating fast food all the time - that's not healthy for your skin, hair, nails, body OR wallet.

It's really not a long way at all. You start with one step. Even if you do something as simple as NEVER drinking sugary soda again, that will help you lose quite a lot of weight. There should be no reason in the world to drink sugar-soda.

Hello - well I fell off the wagon for the past two weeks and put on 6 pounds. I figured I would go back to my Weight Watchers plan - but I found myself starving and eventually eating everything in sight. So, I am back to day one on my low-carb diet. OK my question is this - can I just skip the two week induction and eat 20 to 30 carbs a day which would include my low-carb shakes, low-carb yoguart - as long as I stay within 20 to 30 carbs I should lose weight still, right? I just cannot think about going through 2 weeks without something sweet again - it was an awful experience the first time around - I guess what I am wondering is can I just start off in Phase 2 instead of going through induction again?

I think I answered that in another thread But yes if that's what works for you, then do it that way. But remember, a key point of induction is to wean you off your sugar addiction. If you still have it, it is still going to tempt you to eat sweet stuff - which is not good for you. That is still something you have to work on.

I am currently at 143lbs and I want to get down to 130lbs (where I was out prior to my pregnancy). I have been following the lowcarb plan and working out (3 miles a day on the gazelle) and I am still at 143lbs.

dsclappe - are you sure you started out on "induction" in the low carb plan, where you stay on 20g a day and eat only certain foods? And you really didn't lose *any* weight?

I went through a period of depression several years ago, and gained about 50 pounds. A year and a half ago, I started exercising and eating low fat/low calorie meals. I lost about 25 pounds, but have been at a plateau for MONTHS. After about a month of research and careful consideration, I decided to try a low carb diet, to jump start my weight loss again. I spent a long time deciding whether or not I should go the low carb route because I've been a vegetarian for 12 years, and wasn't sure if a veggie & low carb diet would be either possible or healthy. After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that it would be a little more difficult, and I would have to get more creative, but that I could do it! Right now, I weigh about 155 lbs, and would like to get down to around 135-140, which is what I weighed 4 years ago.

Yup definitely I know many vegetarians who are low carb. Bob and I are in fact quite vegetable oriented. Low carb is very, very emphatic that you need to eat a ton of veggies. In fact most low carbers eat way more veggies than the average human. It's scary but a LARGE number of people only eat potatoes as a veggie - that's it!!

We can definitely get you down to 135. The important thing here is not to go TOO low on calories, because your body will think there's a famine going on and will hoard your remaining body fat. That's where a lot of people make a mistake. You need to bring in ample food for your body, on a very regular basis. That way your body knows it is living in a "time of plenty" and that therefore it's OK to shed the excess weight.

Do you do any walking or other exercising right now?
