I just bought a new girl betta, named Kitty, because I enjoy the weird names. I know that even though females are more peaceful, sometimes there is one who wants to establish dominance, and that's what Tina seems to be doing...She keeps swimming toward Kitty with the 'puffy gills', which I did not know females did. Kitty seems to be ignoring her. No worries, right?

Females can be just as fiesty as the males. Sometimes it helps to have them seperated where they can see each other but not be able to get at each other to do any damage.

I have put one or two floating in a clear plastic bowl in a tank with other females. This way they get thier point across to each other and by the time you let them out they've sorted out who's who and you'll get less fin damage.

Hi Bunny. My girls are just as mean as the boys...well...okay...almost as mean. Of course there are differences from fish to fish. Nan had one that was really nice, and I recall others here with nice little girls.

There are only worries if the girls don't have enuff room to establish areas of their own. SO if one girl is beating on another, you might have to move her to a singles tank, just like the boys.
