Hi Sarah !
Oh my gosh, well I really messed up recently ........had beautifully thick and wavy shoulder length hair and decided to cut it myself ! I was inspired by some net site that said it was reasonably safe to cut your own hair if it was thick and wavy cos if you made a hash of it, it wouldn't show too much ! So I took the scissors to myself and over a period of about five days I trimmed in stages . Days 1 & 2 weren't too noticeable - just trimmed my fringe ( bangs) and sides a little to make it look neater. Then I got carried away by that sense of "I'm really in control here" and decided to go for a full scale trim all round and get a short hair cut. Completely messed it up ! Had to have it all cut off in the end about a month ago - looked a bit like Sinead O'Connor ( anyone else remember her??). Anyway, with the heat and all it was quite nice to feel the air on my head, the only major downside being that because my hair is so thick it felt prickly as it grew back. It's growing super fast now and I've got over the prickly stage - I'm one of those lucky people I guess whose hair grows super fast. It looks kind of neat anyway with make up and dangly ear-rings, or a crystal drop choker and an open neck ! In fact I think I'm going to always keep it short now because it's just so practical and I'm enjoying it even though I hadn't planned it - not this short! I shall probably have it cut really short every spring now and then let it grow till the following spring so I have reasonable coverage throughout the winter months !
So you see, the moral of this sorry story - fortunately with a happy ending - is that I'm definitely not the one to advise on which net sites to go to in order to determine how you should do your hair. The virtual make over site is about as far as I'm prepared to go ! I'm sure you'll look beautiful whatever you decide to go for in the end, and don't forget that beauty starts from within and i'm sure you have a head start. I think it's good to pick up ideas from hairdresses and magazines - pin mark looks that you like and ask hairdrssers over a free consultation how it's likely to suit you. I think the net can be misleading /misguiding / mis inspiring at times and when it comes down to something as real life as your hairstyle you ought to get real life advice from those around you who know you/ and or can physically see you. I wish you all the best of luck - keep us posted will you !
Peace,
sabrina
