My newest, sweet, little girl was just born on May 30th. My husband is Russian and we live in Russia, so we gave her a traditional Russian name, Yelizaveta Andreavna K. Now when I go to make her American passport and birth certificate, should I keep that spelling or change it? BTW, we nicknamed her Ellie

option 1: Yelizaveta
option 2: Elizaveta
option 3: Elizabeth

Thanks for your help!

I would stay with the original spelling...why would you change it? I seriously don't know much about these things and was wondering if there is a reason people change names on passports.

Ellie is an absolutely adorable name! CONGRATS to you and hubby!!!

I say keep it the same. Option 1. Why change it?

I just thought that by dropping the "Y" it would be easier for Americans to pronounce. Thanks for the opinions! Keep them coming.

I think you should keep the original name. It is a beautiful name, and different.

I'd say keep the original, not sure of the correct prn, but if my prn is right, I think it is beautiful! I'm sure you could find an American nick name if you wanted to ease up the name a bit!
