I've heard people on here talk about how FFVIII discs mess up so easily. Well I'm finally playing it for the first time (I know, bad behind) and it acted fine for about ten minutes. However, all of a sudden my PS2 starting making weird noises and the game kept skipping up. I finally got tired of messing with it so I turned it off (which means I lost my progress). Do you think it is the disc or could it be my console? If you think it is my console, how would i clean it? One of those cleaning discs thingies? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

probably your console. or maybe the disk.
is the disk genuine and new?
maybe the disk and the ps2 laser need cleaning?

(man i haven't been here for weeks)

well, it's a disc I borrowed from a friend, but it looks good on the backside, but I haven't cleaned my console since I got it about two years ago. Would a cleaning disc that you use on CD players work in the PS2 console?

I know you haven't been here in a while, I commented on that a few days ago in the post "what happened to tha game". I lot of the people I remember never post anymore

PS2 is known for it's habit to just break after a year or 2.. luckily didn't happen to me, but it happens to bout 7/10 people averagly for as far as I recall..
quite sucky, but my FF X skipped one time, thought my PS2 was broke, however worked fine the day after.

FF VIII = ace game btw =)

well, I had to replace it after about 2 months with it and it's worked fine since. I know people say the FFVIII discs mess up easily, so I was wondering if that was it. I'll see what I can do with it.

BTW, I heard it was a great game, and I've seen some of the movies on it. It looks tight. So I may be posting a few questions about it on here, so be ready thanks

be ready? uh, we wont be ready

haha, all i can say is that in the beggining you just play cards HEAPS, and then you can get Squalls second best weapon (punishment), and heap of nice magic too, just by getting Quetzacotl's cardMod abilities.

yeah, I've toyed with the card game some. But what benefits does it bring you exactly?

UPDATE: My PS2 won't even read the FFVIII disc anymore I've got my brother trying to clean both. But the ps2 reads ps2 discs fine, just seems to be having problems with the original ps disc. Stupid thing...

strange.. someone else's FF 8 discs work fine on my PS 2 I have it on PC myself.

The card game, well Quetzacoatl can learn an ability that changes cards into items.
believe it or not.. but this if.. you play it correctly allows you to even get Squall's BEST weapon (that's right) on disc 1.. it gets pretty lame then though.. since your attack will be huge.. and you'll have acces to the Lionheart limit break.. (hits numerous times dealing bout 9999 damage each time..)

well, I can't find any of that stuff out until I can get my PS2 to play FFVIII. My brother is still working on cleaning both of them. But still, it's annoying having to wait this long
