Thanks for the support, Ravyn, would have replied before now, but this forum keeps locking up on me (anyone else get that?). Y'know, the very suggestion of working with kids made me shudder, so I guess I've come to terms with my 'choice' more than I knew...lol.

LOVED that letter to pets above, especially after spending a night with Cain my half-a-lab stretched out on the bed next to me - gawd knows what he ate that he shouldn't have yesterday, but the noises coming from his tummy kept me awake half the night!

If anyone is interested, there are pics of all my animals (including the chickens) on my blog at http://spaces/msn.com/members/darkginger (exotic ale, eh? sounds good!)

Oh gawd, Sinbad the cat just jumped on me - needs refuelling again, no doubt, so will get off here and open a tin or something...

Jo

I've been an animal lover my whole life. As a kid we had so many different kinds of pets and we took care of them properly - everyone died of old age. Ducks, chickens, geese, a guinea hen, dogs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, cats, rabbits, and even an armadillo made up the face of my family. I much prefer animals and animal-people to "regular" people any day. I have 6 cats and a dog currently, and they are my whole life. Coming home from work to a peaceful house, my significant other and my 7 furbabies is like being on vacation. I cannot imagine having to schlep off to pick up Bratley from daycare, home to feed him/her, listen to the screaming and arguing, bath time, and all the other [censored] that goes along with having a kid.

Wow, so many of you have pets. I dont have one. Not even a goldfish.

maybe someday I'll get a dog. But I travel to much to have one now. All of your animals are real cute though.

I have two beautiful cats and a cute doggie. Sabriel is a black long haired cat, and is the lovingest little thing=). Felicia is a short haired tortie calico, and she's very much a daddys girl. And Panda is our black and white boxer/lab mix, sweet little dog (Well, she's actually quite big. . .). We love our animals like one would love their kids, they are our kids! My mother accepts them as her grandkids and sends them little presents all the time. Couldnt imagine my life without them and hope to add to the furbaby family soon=)
