My cockatiel hen sometimes sits on her perch, bends down low and does this bobbing motion with her head. Then I see her beak moving as if she has food in it. It looks as though she is regurgitating or at least trying to. Is this a breeding behavior or is there something wrong. I took her to the vet not too long ago and she had giardia(?) and an infection. I got rid of the infection with antibiotic from avian vet and got powder meds. for giardia. Otherwise she's healthy. What could this mean??? Also many times when I'm talking to my two cockatiels they shake their head but still chirp so it doesn't seem to bother them. I'm not talking loud just normally.

It sounds to me as if this is a normal behaviour, especially if she has been doing it for awhile. Birds feed each other even when not breeding, and she may even be offering something to you. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The head shaking is normal when being talked to. Mine all do that too.

Good! Thanks Mavis, that's such a relief.
