I had a whole long post and lost it. It's too late to retype for me..lol.

Simplest thing is to ask if anyone has or can help me by directing me to a very simple chainst type pattern shawl and would like to have a poncho pattern. The ch sts catch in the middle of about an 8-10 ch 'run' creating a nice drape. The one I saw had a singular shell border, but I think I would rather do 2 rows of sst or dbc and knot fringe and silk through the edges.

Thank you in advance..this is driving me nutz since I saw one. I could make myself a whole wardrobe of colors and textures.

Okay, I found the library and the Pretty Poncho was very close. The shawl I saw, however, was done completely in what appeared to be chain sts, with a slip st in the middle of each 'run' of 8-10 sts of the previous row. From a distance it looked kind of like airy, lazy openwork fish scales (?-semicircles? sorry not sure how to describe..lol). As I looked at it up close, I could see the main body of the pattern appears to be nothing but chain sts, with shells formed on the ends of the rows (or possibly edged after body is finished?)

It was not only the simpleness of the pattern that appealed to me but the finished look. I'm just not that patient trying to come up with a pattern because I can't focus well, I don't have that much experience with crochet to guess at gauges and how to begin, and receive too many interruptions. With a pattern for a simple item, I can follow and not worry that I have to start over 20 times, get frustrated and quit, leaving my yarn bag to sit for weeks while my husband wonders why I left yet another project by the wayside...lol.

Any suggestions? Other places to look? If the store is open today, I may ask if they will give my phone number to the lady and maybe she can tell me (if she's the one that did it). I will certainly share if I find out. In the meantime, I appreciate any responses. Thank you!

This one is a very easy pattern. It's still not the same, but I can try this one while I'm still looking for the real one. Thank you so very much!
