I just found out I am 2 mos pregnant, and when I am due my parrotlet will be approx. 1 1/2 year old. She is kind of nippy and I don't seem to be able to break her of this. I am concerned that once I have the baby she will become very jealous and am not sure how to handle her and the baby. I love her to death but do not want her nipping at the baby or pulling out her own feathers in protest. Please don't tell me sell, as she is my "first" baby...Any suggestions?

I don't have any personal experience with Parrotlets. Some of them seem to be very nippy and others are very sweet.

Most birds handle the new addition of a baby without too much problem. A baby is much too young to handle a bird - or have a bird land on them & the same is true for a toddler. It should be several years before your baby should actually come into close enough contact with your Parrotlet so biting should not be a problem.

Try to continue to spend time with your bird - at first when the baby is sleeping and then later when the baby is playing on the floor. You have time to start preparing your bird for the arrival of the baby by adding baby items into the room so she gets used to the new things that will be around.
