Hello all,

I recently found an online video archive of the late John Paul II on a Polish news site.

One clip is quite short (circa 1997 or 1998) and features a funny incident where JPII sneezes in the middle of the homily and the audience applauses. He then pauses for a while and says something which causes the audience to laugh and applaud some more.

I would like to know what was being said but am not of Polish descent, nor can I speak Polish. Does anyone speak Polish and translate the clip for me? Forgive me if I sound presumptive for asking that.

Here is the link:

And if you are interested, here is the entire archive of JPII footage from the Polish site:

Enjoy and thanks a bunch,

Lilian

Dzien Dobry (Good Day) Lilian,

In Polish he says:
"Okazuje sie, ze nawet kichniecie moze miec sens ekumeniczny "

English translation:
"It turns out that even a sneeze can have ecumenical sense"

Good Morning!

Well thank you very much, Hussar. That was funny - I now truly appreciate the humour of the clip.

This sneeze was in Wroclaw during ecumenical s congress. It was in 1997 y. I have lot of nostalgia from this time but in this congress I met my hunsband s cousin who is the bishop in Camerun /the polish clergy working everywhere/.

Good early, early Morning (1:30am where I am)!

Hello Malgosai: Now that's a neat piece of personal history.

Jaga: glad you liked the clip, thanks for the welcome and nice to meet you (all)!

I'll have to come back this weekend and post other links to John Paul II I found within the last day or so. I noticed a couple of long threads a few forum pages back so it might of interest to some of you, especially if you can understand Latin, Spanish, French, Italian, and/or Polish.

...Then again, I cannot speak any of the aforementioned languages but I enjoy them nonetheless.

Peace,

Lilian
