If someone asks my opinion I'll be honest - but try to be tactful (unless I don't like them, then to hell with their feelings:) I don't generally offer unsolicited opinions or advice just because it seriously annoys me when other people do it.
Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.

Waterlily,
I like the way you tell it like it is.

[color:"blue"] Well, I'm a firm believer that actions speak louder than words. When I'm not cooing over someones brat, I sure hope they get the message. It might hurt their little feelings, but then again, I don't always find babies or toddlers, cute. [/color]

I don't mind older kids, but really don't like babies and toddlers. I've never found babies that cute, so I've never understood all the fuss. Plus, they're too high maintenance for my taste!

I know what you mean...I'm not a kid person and yet they seem to flock to me. It's uncomfortable, trying to not make eye contact with them, trying to discourage them subtley without making their parents angry.
I don't hate kids, but don't enjoy being around them. And I've decided to not have any more at my home. A former friend brought her rug rat over one day and let him run wild -- banging on the stereo equipment, trying to open the oven, banging on computer equipment. My former friend just smiled and said, "Isn't he cute?" I just wanted to scream. I should've thrown her out of the house, but this was the time I was in pleaser mode. Now I don't care anymore. If people think I'm rude for not wanting their sprogs in my house, that's their problem. My husband and I already have agreed to never host Thanksgiving or large family events because of his cousin's wild kids. I shudder at what they would do to our home!

I think babies and little kids can be cute, I just don't want to be around them because they, you know, move and make noise. Whenever my co-workers bring their kids into work, I just close my door and ignore them. I've had the occasional call or email, "So and so brought their baby in, don't you want to see he/she/it?" I just say no thanks - not a fan.

I like kids--other people's kids--I just don't want any of my own. I don't want that kind of responsibility.

I can get quite clucky over a baby, I think it is the hormones. Recognising this dosn't make me too concerned. Instead I play with the baby for half an hour then give it back when it starts crying or needs to be changed!
As for kids, I enjoy them when they are interesting, fun and well behaved...just like I enjoy adults who are interesting, fun and well behaved!
I will soon have my first little niece or nephew which I am very excited about.
I really enjoy this forum, what a blessing.
