I'm 19 and expecting my first child.I plan to name her Amelia Jayne (pronounced Jane, not Jay-ne).I want to call her Mia.But I'm trying to find a name I would like better..I want it to be unique but not complicated.I'm into celtic/gaelic/irish/scottish things but those names are never pronounced like they are spelled and I don't want her to be confused in school.

Hi, I am using my granddaughter`s name as my username. I was horrified when my daughter announced her intention to use that name. It is pronounced onya not enya. I had visions of her being teased with a scots phrase `On yer bike` when she went to school. In my day that would have happened. However it didn`t. I love the name now and it just so suits her. It is Irish, her sister is Roisin. also Irish. good luck with your baby

I really like the names you have, and if you aren't completely sold on Amelia, you could always make her given name "Mia," like the actress.

If you are looking for something unusual, how about Valancy? or Kimeley (although not everyone may get it right the first time: kim-eh-lee)? They both sound nice with Jayne, though I prefer Rose.

Congradulations on the baby, I'm sure you'll both be happy with whatever name you decide on.

I like the name, Niamh (Neev, right Niamh)?

Here are names I like that aren't too hard to spell or pronounce from the cultures you like:

Morven
Fergy
Neilina
Saundra
Finella
Ainsley
Innes
Isobel

Those are a few more Scottish names I like. I'm sure they're used in other countries too. I hope you like some of them.

yes it is.

"I like the name, Niamh (Neev, right Niamh)?"

No, it's Nee-av, but close enough. I've heard of some Niamhs who pronounce it Neev though, so I can understand the confusion, lol.
