Unfortunately, that often happens as we age. Make sure you are using good quality shampoo and conditioner and pay attention to your health. There are certain nutrients that have proven to be good for your hair.

These are a couple of articles that deal with healthy hair.

I also have long hair past my waist and as I have no talent in fixing hair, I usually just leave it alone and keep it in a braid, but I do use a couple of products to keep it healthy, one is "L`ANZA be long ProtecShine," it has stopped the split ends, and the tube lasts a long time, I use a small amt after each shampoo condition just about the size of a quarter in my hand then rub it in,Their conditioner is good also but expensive, I then use a Pick to comb out instead of brush or comb. I also found that "Fructis conditioner for long & strong" is working well
at least for a while, I usually change conditioner brands at least twice a year as they seem to quit doing what I want them to do which is keep it soft and shiny

Even in my early twenties, from years of processing and straightening, I have to pay more attention to the ends of my locks. Maybe you could try using extra conditioner on the ends of your hair, like a leave-in. Seems almost too simple, but I have seen it make an enormous difference in texture and shine, with the right product. If you maintain long hair, you might as well show it off!

I like to oil my hair. Seems to work pretty well to keep it manageable and I definitely notice a difference even with my grossly dry and damaged hair.

Oil works to lubricate and weight the hair but doesn't do really improve the inner condition or strength. Although, sometimes lubricant and weight are just what is needed.

I have hair to my lower back, I have gotten my hair to where it's healthy and shiny but my hair is so fine and thin that i really can't do much with it. Is there any way to get my hair thicker with more body?

Thats a challenge with hair as long as yours. Good quality styling products will make it feel like more hair. Apply a foam or light gel. Then blow it dry - upside down.

Nioxin has products to actually nourish each hair. You apply the "Treatment" or Follicle Booster" everyday directly onto the scalp. It encourages stronger hair.
