BellaOnline Forums Family Step Parenting Step-parent / child after parent is deceased....

In reading some of the posts I see that most people are becoming step-parents after a divorce. I became a step-child when I was 13 after my father had passed away when I was 5. Wondering if anyone else out there is in a similair situation. Did you accept your parents decision to remarry or did the children accept you? Were other children brought into the marriage? Were you disciplined by your new step-parent or do you have problems in disciplining your new step-child?

I had many issues with my mothers choice, but I think it was mostly because I wanted my dad and not someone else. But, it didn't help knowing that our new step-dad didn't like kids too much and had a lot of issues in raising his own. I became a very angry and rebelious teenager and had a lot of issues in my early 20's. I still have some to address (I'm now 31) but feel I've grown into a pretty strong independent woman. Does anyone else still feel like they are working on issues that stemmed from becoming a step-child or parent?

Actuelly I am married to my second Husband. First husband died 3 years ago. I had 3 Kids with him.
However it was a bad marriage,and I had left him prior to him dying. So the kids, wasnt at all upset when Mike came into the Picture. He spends a lot more time with them,treats them very good, and sopourts and helps them. More then their own dad did .
They never told him anything in the matter of "youre not my dad so i wont listen to you!" My kids are great!!
