I can understand adding a few talking vegis and fruit and even adding some skits on healthy eating and exercise...

But Sesame Street changing the Cookie Monster's song to "A Cookie Is a Sometimes Food," is just rediculous. He's a cookie monster. He's always been a cookie monster. He's blue. He eats cookies (actually he just shreads cookies producing lots of crumbs).

I grew up watching Sesame Street. Yes, I'm overweight but there is no way in h*&^ that the Cookie Monster eating cookies or the Cookie Monster song made me fat. If you ask me, Grover is looking a little anorexic. Maybe they should do something about that too.

That's the way the cookie crumbles. hehe. I just had to.

What are your thoughts on the new Cookie Monster song?

I am gld you wrote somethng about this cause something needed to be said. I grew up with S&S as well and as you said the Cookie song did not make me fat either. Why fix something that is not broke. so many kids loved that song because it was silly not cause of cookies! They could have easily made a new puppet like a rabbit or something along that line to get the veggie point across. Next thing we know Oscar going to love the scent of lemon pledge instead of trash!

I think this is so stupid. My 3 yr old sings the cookie monster song all the time, but he knows he has to eat real food before he can have a cookie. Let's just not make parents responsible for everything to do with their kids.

I remember during that time a woman who lost it on Care2 and she wrote an article against Sesame Street because in one sketch they talked about fruits and vegetables and she was going on and on about some of these fruits and vegetables having sugar in them! It was so ridiculous that even the people who are offended over anything were telling her to calm down!
