When is the right time to say someone is your friend?
I have gotten together with someone for afternoon snacks a couple of times and we get along well when we're together---but she's never told me I was her friend, though she's said a couple of things like "they might tell me I can't go out for lunch but they can't tell me who my friends are" (She was complaining about her boss), or "I can tell you something as a friend."
My question is, what right do I have to call her a friend. <img src="/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

I think a friend is anyone you choose to like. If you want good things for them, and don't wish bad things for them, you are a friend.
If you get together and enjoy each other's company, you are friends. I think that someone can be your friend even if you never say the word.
