depends on if you are a guy or a girl. I personally don't think they look right on guys (Chris Rock's song had a big influence on me ) But I know a few people who have them. You will talk funny for a day or two. But if it is what you want, then go for it.

hi. i just got my tounge pierced yesturday... Its very swollen and kindahard to talk, i can still eat soft foods.. But for the people who say it doesnt hurt are lying.. unless im just a wuss.. I went in there thinking i wouldnt really feel it (thats what everyone told me!) and it hurt more than i expected.. so far i love it though. im just waiting for the swelling to go down!
Do it if its what you want.. good luck!

Given that tongue piercing involves a rather thick gauge needle being forced through the major muscle that is your tongue, I don't see how it couldn't hurt somewhat. Most folks I know say it hurts, but not as much as when you bite your own tongue. Apparently this is due to the piercing needle being much sharper than human teeth.

mine didnt hurt a bit... i think it's due ti the fact that yes, it is a muscle, but it's two, connected with tissue that has more chemeo-receptors for flavour, than it has pain receptors.

mine also only swelled a little bit in the mornings, and it took a bit to figure out how to eat with a fork! lol.

but i'm a bit of a freak, and none of my piercings have ever given me any trouble.

I would say that having my tongue pierced didn't hurt a bit, except that due to the extreme throbbing in my tongue from the clamp fastenened tightly on my tongue, I couldn't tell you if the piercing part hurt or not, lol...

It didn't hurt so badly that I regret doing it, though... And I LOVE my tongue piercing. I iced it religiously the first week, and haven't had a lick of trouble with it. Its even gauged to a 10g.

yes, most ppl complain about the clamp hurting... where as some of us (me, like i said, a freak), have a teeny tiny tounge, and the clamp barely held it in place, so i didnt feel anything.

just wear something that looks normal when wet, most ppl drool! (again, i'm a freak, so i didnt even do that!)

It brought tears to my eyes when I got it done... Afterwards wasn't as bad as I thought though...

Well, mine didn't hurt, really. I gargled with listerine for 3-5 minutes and then the piercer did her thing. I felt a very slight pinch or prick and then it was over. I was so surprised that at first I didn't think she had done it. I also never talked funny or had my tongue swell much at all. I went to 7-11 and got the biggest slurpee available and drank it all night. Of course, pain, swelling, and recovery time are all individual.
