What effect does a vampire have on YOU? What are some of your favorite vampires?

I love vampire stories. Don't know why, just find them so facsinating, sexy. They always tell a great tale

I recently watched the 1972 movie, Blackula, starring William Marshall as the vampire. It was strange but compelling.

I liked a book by Mark Dirschel. Funny, it's out by Publish America, but it is solid writing. I don't usually go for PA books, but I checked this one out because I knew the writer, and it's very well done. "Pay attention. All choices have consequences."

The book is sexy, thoughtful and intelligently written.

Plus, Mark's a hoot.

I loved the Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce.

Also, for a non-traditional vampire the character Gerrald Tarrant in C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy (book 1 "Black Sun Rising"). Gerrald is pretty cool and his character is very complex - you want to like him, but he's a VAMPIRE!. I said he is a non-traditional vampire because he CAN survive on blood, but his favorite food is fear. Also, the books are more sci-fi than horror...

I love vampire stories but none has ever scared me (well perhaps something in the book or movie but not the vampires themselves).
