I'm 36, married almost 8 years. I had my tubes tied when I was 22 because I had known all my life that I didn't want kids, and I was going to make sure no accidents happened! Then it was just a matter of finding the right guy, which I eventually did. We have our two kitties and that's enough for me.

Hi... I'm Lisa.
I arrived in this CF life due to infertility. Yes, I wanted children. Hubby was always ambivalent. Yes, I like children... in fact, I teach them. I am quite amazed at how they learn.
I look at my "CF-ness" as a choice... no, I am not a victim (I am not childLESS). Why is it a choice? Because I chose not to do science experiments to my body to conceive. We chose not to adopt or have foster kids. We realized that our life was pretty good the way it was!
I have to be honest... I have found it hard fitting in... I don't fit in the parent category... and I don't feel that I fit into the "true" CF category.
I can say that I totally understand the uncomfortable, rude questions strangers & family can ask. I have been accused of being selfish. I'm sure you all know "the drill."
Anyway, I thought I'd hang out here and see what this CF community is like.

I always wanted not to have children, even when I was a little girl I never wanted to be a mommy.
The only time I have ever re-thought that is recently after seeing my aunt go through a hard time being 50 and having no children. But even though I am still really thinking about my life decisions I am still totally leaning towards Child-Free. Just decided to think about it again just in case.
I do like kids, (some of them) and I am friends with many really awesome parents. So I am not against it. It's just not for me.
I have a big Career and children just dont fit into my life.

Hi Lisa W. ! My name is Lisa W. also and came to the childfree life choice through infertility---how freaky is that!?! We also chose not to pursue medical "help". I belong to a yahoo group that is less "anti-kid" than alot of the CF groups and boards are. It is called Childfree_FamilyOfTwo . Also check out this website: http://www.childfree.ca/index.htmlGood to see you here! Lisa

Hi - I'm 32 and my husband is 36; been married for 6 years.
We have never been crazy about kids though I wouldn't say we fully decided to stay CF until about 1-2 years ago. When our friends and siblings started having kids, there was just no part of their new lives that we were interested in.
We leave for a 2-week vacation to Ireland this month, while my parent-friends are stressing out about the trials and tribulations of potty training. I wouldn't trade places with them for the world!

Hello! I'm 27 and my b/f is 32 .. been together 6 years.
Neither one of us ever wanted kids.. we have 3 cats and it's hard enough for us to find caretakers for them while we are away... I could never give up the "get-up-and-go" freedom I have being CF.. I have activities that keep me busy pretty much all week (hockey, pool, horseback riding) and I wouldn't give any of them up to raise a child. I teach kids with disabilites to ride horses and I love those kids.. but I get to leave them after 1 hour and that's enough time for me.
The only thing that's going to suck about being CF in the future is that I know I will "lose" my friends that decide to have kids ..
Cheers!
Soma

Hi! I'm new to this site. I am 40 years old & have been married 14 years. DH & I always assumed we'd have kids, we gave ourselves 5 years of child-free marriage before we even thought of trying. The 5 years passed very quickly & we realized we enjoyed our life just the way it is!

Hi! I'm 34, my hubby is 36. We've been married for almost ten years. When we got married, he was CF and I was still ambivalent, though over the years we each slowly shifted until we met in the middle. Nowadays, I'm adamantly CF and he's more ambivalent, although he understands that I will absolutely never have a child of my genetics. If he ever decides that he desperately wants a child (which he and I both doubt), I will revisit the question... I don't necessarily question my parenting skills, I've just never really had the inclination to BE a parent. *shrugs* If he's convincing, we can always adopt.
[color:"Red"] You tell me that I sin. You say I'm bound for hell. So once your judgment condemns you I SHALL SEE YOU THERE.

Hello=) I'm 23, and my husband is 23 as well. We've been married for over a year now, been together for 5 years, and were best friends for 1.5 years before that. We're a very cute couple, hardly ever see us without the other, and we both want to remain child free. We have 1 dog and 2 kitties and are quite happy with just that, although i would love to add an animal here and there along the way^^ I signed up for this site awhile ago and havnt been on it in awhile, glad to see some new posts and some new ppl!
