Lol - sorry, I had to ask! I'm just wondering if other women who are choosing not to have kids ever thought they wanted them. I never fantasized about having kids at all - and I didn't even like baby dolls when I was really little.
I did like Barbie-type dolls, those plastic horses, and stuffed animal toys - but that's as close as that ever got. I never played with baby dolls, as a matter of fact I thought they were dirty. I did get a baby doll for my 1st b-day, and according to my parents I said something like 'don't want baby'. My parents have always known that I was cf, I guess. I used to play with Lego products, I had my own police and fire department and army and I had a zoo.

I never played with baby dolls either, but I always wanted one, because I knew, that with it will come also a push chair. I always liked everything with wheels, and I can even admit, that though I dont really like kids, a push chair still has some mystery for me. Crazy, isnt it?

I did play with dolls as a kid (hell, I still would if I thought I could get away with it...uh, I choose to think of myself as "young at heart" rather than immature....). And as I kid I did want children....although perhaps it was just that I didn't think NOT to--having kids was what you did, so I was going to.
Then I got a little older and realized that hey, kids mean work, pregnancy, loss of money....and knew they were NOT for me.
However, if I were in a conversation with someone who was oh-so-sure I would change my mind or whatever, I would never admit that I wanted kids when I was younger, because then they would probably argue "see, you really do want kids, this is just a phase!" Because we all know that what you want when you're 8 and naive has more bearing than what you want when you're 22 and informed. *eye roll*

Not really - I had one 'barbie' doll but I cut her hair off and dressed her up like robin hood. Other dolls I used to send to school - and gender was kinda irrelevant - I certianly never had any 'baby' dolls.

No, I do not remember playing with baby dolls themselves. I might have played with their accessories more than anything. Today I like dressing stuffed animals; i love that hug-a-bear store, although have not actually bought any of them - just admire all the stuff you can dress them in when I go with my niece. But that is simply play dressing. One of these days I'm getting a small dog and dressing it up - and I'll chuckle as I watch my dear husband's eyes roll! LOL But I don't think I will do it very often as I don't want to embarrass myself too much - just when it is cold outside.
I liked barbie dolls alot, but again I especially loved all her accessories like the airplane and making up "careers" for her.
I feel the desire to dress animals, stuffed or alive, is by no means a sign that I am missing having a baby. On the contrary. I just love being silly.

I played with Cabbage Patch dolls. I think that is because they were "adopted." The idea of giving birth has always disgusted me!!

I had cabbage patch kids too! I think you are right. I didn't really play with them like they were my children, I played with them like they were my peer (I think I was 10 when I got my first one). As for other dolls, nope, and I especially hated Barbie (sorry Barbie fans). I did have a Dorothy Hamel skating doll mainly b/c I figure skated as a kid.

check out this baby doll! I am tempted to get it for MIL so she can take photos and send them out to her long-distance friends and tell them it is ours! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5615639779&fromMakeTrack=true

That doll in the add is kinda creepy, especially how the add says it was "reborn". Shudder.
I got frusrated with dolls, too. They felt uncomfortable to play with, like they were too "needy" to be fun. And my mom would get this sickeningly-sweet look when I attempted to play with one. She gives that same look now when I hold my niece and it REALLY unnerves me.
I loved to build things with blocks, tinker toys, legos, and use chemistry sets, and yes I played with cars. What I hate is when people referred to the building & science toys as "boy toys". I was ok with being called a tomboy-but why couldn't girls build & invent things?
Back then, everyone assumed I'd be into dolls and now everyone assumes I want a real one. If I was raising a female child I'd go down every toy isle with her to see what she liked so she'd know early on that it's ok to be an individual and not stifle her talents.

I remember playing GI Joes and teenage mutant ninja turtals with the boy next door. I also played with barbie till I was 12. I know talk about breaking a child's habit it was hard to give it up really it was. I climbed trees and played with dolls I also wanted to be the animal not a human when I played house. I liked playing with boys not girls most of the time. I did cheers at school with some of the girls. But I turned out ok I guess lol I guess I'm just like the other poster "the perfect woman". I play video games I love computers I can hold my liquor like most guys lol burping contest (one girl is allowed unless the others dont mind joining in) I love sports. And when I want a little romance I can go full blash girlie style. I love to shop cook dance makeup and all that girlie stuff I know how to turn it on and off again. javascript:void(0)
