I have a tattoo on my right ring finger. It's been there for six years, and I want to get it covered up. I went to a place yesterday, to see how much it would be, and after I explained the design, the guy told me they don't like to do fingers. What I want goes around the finger, but not really like a ring.
Anyway, he went into a whole spiel about fading and a waste of time, and money, so they just don't do it.
Does anyone here have a tattoo on the palm side of their hand? How long have you had it, and how has it held up?

The palms are one of the places of the body, like the soles of the feet, where the skin sheds so continuously that tattooing isn't recommended. Getting a mark to stay anywhere on the palm side of the hand is nearly impossible.

Thanks for the reply.

It looks like I have to change the plan.

Hunting around on the net, it would seem that a lot of tattooists also have reservations about tattooing the hands due to the abundance of blood vessels that are close to the skin surface.

Also, present society has such a stigma about tattoos on the hands anyway, most artists are reluctant to tattoo hands, or do anything additive in the way of cover-ups. You might look into having that one lasered off if you are really unhappy with it.

The tattoo I have doesn't look bad. It has held up well over the years. I thought of an idea that I think would look better, and wouldn't be hard in terms of covering the old one. The artist I went to originally didn't have any problem with doing it, so to me getting a new one didn't seem like a big deal.

You may have to shop around to find an artist you can work with. Finding a tattooist is partly like finding a good hairdresser and partly like finding a dentist.

A girl at work has a tattoo on her ring finger, and it gunna cost her more to have it removed than it did to actually do it, i dont like them on fingers/hands, just a personal choice i wudnt have one there,
