Well, Kinkin is doing great. I just found out he is afraid of strawberries. I knew he doesnt particularly like red or purple because he gets scared when I put down newspaper that is of those colors... But I put a strawberry in his food dish for a treat and when I came back up a few hours later, he was frantically telling me he was hungry and wasnt going to go to the food dish with the strawberry there. lol

He is still afreaid of hands but he loves to give me a good bye. When I leave, I walk up to his cage and he flys right to the purch colsest to me. I say bye bye and he sometimes pokes his head out of the cage when I leave.

I was wondering if leaving his cage door open might give him any anxiety. His door is 7"wide x 6"tall. He never comes out. I just like to leave it open to take out evil strawberries and things like that.

Aaawww - Kinkin is looking wonderful and I'm sure glad to hear that he's doing ok. LOL - not sure what his problem is with red and with strawberries though - silly bird!!

I know of a few people who let their canaries out of the cage during the day when they are home. If the door was open on a regular basis, I'm pretty sure he would start coming out, so just make sure that there are no dangers in the home for him.

Last words from people who lost a bird always go something like "he's never done that before". Many birds have flown right into a pot of boiling water - or right out the door when they had never left the room or the cage before.
