Most of us have problems with insomnia or quality of sleep, but I was wondering how many others hurt even worse when they don't get enough.

I was only able to get about 4 hours last night, and I have been in horrific pain all day. My legs feel like the flesh is being ripped off my bones, and my knees <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> are so bad that if I have to get down on the floor, I literally can not get up. I was looking for a Valentine's Day card for hubby in Wal-Mart and another customer was worried about me <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I used to be able to function on little sleep, and now it seems I can't function at all. I also get very nauseous when I haven't slept.

The truth is if you don't get enough sleep, the muscle tears and wear on your joints that occur during an average day will only get worse. So, it's no wonder you feel like a mack truck hit you if you haven't been sleeping well.

I understand how you feel.

Here's some articles on the whole 'sleep factor' if you're all interested:

I get too much sleep and I am concerned about it. I literally can
not function. It's tearing me apart. I dont want to talk to my family
about it. I'm afraid they are going to respond negatively. My CFS is
a result from illness that has left me disabled and I don't want to be
a burden.

*nods* That makes sense, and added to the nerve damage from my back fiasco and 4th surgery a few months ago, noo wonder it's worse. Thanks for the resources.

I've truly been disabled since October but still don't want to formally apply. I've heard it's a nightmare and I can't bring myself to deal with it. My little part time jobs and home business seem to be getting more stable, so maybe I can take all the time I need to recover and won't need to.

I'm sorry to hear that. I am glad that your home businesses are getting more stable. I'm not ready to apply yet myself although I'll never be able to work out of my home again. It's a hard process to go through.

To help me sleep, I take a muscle relaxer called Flexeril. I had some success with Melatonin for a while and meditation/Reiki/prayer before bed.

Of course, refreshing sleep and 'sleep' are two different breeds...aren't they?

The dr put me on Provigil to keep me awake. She said,"It's not a sleep problem you have. It's a staying awake problem." Like 10-12-14 hrs is too much sleep?????

Last Sat night I had a date sleep over. I remembered the next morning why I like being single. With his sleep apnea and my fibro, it was a rough nite. Then he wondered why I wasn't perky at 9:30am Sun morning. I had to take a Darvocet to head off a major Fibro flare after I escorted him out the door. I didn't get a d@#n thing accomplished ALL day. But I *did* feel better after my nap.
