I love rose quartz. I have a pendulum, a pendant that I wear all the time, and a couple big raw chunks of it that I feng shui-d my house with. I also gave my daughter a little polished one to keep as a reminder that I love her.

I like rose quartz, too. In Doreen Virtue's new Angel Kit, she has a polished, heart-shaped one included.
I find myself, especially the last few months, drawn to stones like Tiger's Eye and citrine. I bought a neat Tiger's Eye bracelet around Christmas, and a citrine and diamond ring for my birthday. I'm thinking that it's my weak Earth constitution that's drawn to these stones...or perhaps a bolstering of the 3rd chakra? Interstingly, I've been really into Fall/earthy clothing colors for about 8 years now...
I have a cool amethyst chunk that I like, too, as well as other assorted polished stones. I had a neat bracelet featuring hematite, but it broke last year. (My husband loves hematite!) I'm finding a bit too cool/sterile for my tastes, though.
I received a neat green cat's eye bracelet last year from a friend overseas, as well as one made from goldfluss. I wear the green one when I need healing energy. (I should be wearing it now, in fact!)
My pendulum features rose quartz, as well as carnelian.
What other crystals do you like, mtnmermaid? (How sweet to give that to your daughter! I gave my son the heart shaped one from Doreen's kit last year, but I think he lost it...)
Can you tell a difference Feng shui-ing your house with crystals? I never tried it, myself...(other than for decoration).

I finally taught myself to wire-wrap crystals in the week before the Holistic Healing Fair I taught my dream class at last week. They turned out gorgeous, if I do say so myself, and I got a lot of great feedback and a few sales. I also made a beautiful rose quartz pendulum and it sold very quickly! I looked up the qualities of each and wrote them on index cards to put on the table for my customers. I used Melody's "Love Is In The Earth" as a reference, and she lists each as vibrating to a certain number. I also wrote this on the cards, and nobody knew what that meant! I haven't had time to look it up in her book and was wondering if you know?

I am new here and I just wanted to say this is a great site. I wanted to reply to a couple of things. In regards to the hemitite bracelet that broke. Hemetite is a very grounding stone and it is also a stress absorber. When it has consumed as much as it can handle it will shatter/break. This is also true for other stones that have completed their work with you, they will either break or you will lose them.
One day when I worked at a new age store a very stressed man came in he looked around and when he came to the register he noticed the basket of hemitite rings and asked me about them. I explained to him the properties of hemitite and he decided to purchase one. He paid for it, put it on and as he was walking down the sidewalk to his car it shattered. Needless to say he came back and bought several more. During periods of immense stress I have had hemitite shatter on me as well. When this occurs I don't throw it away, instead I thank the stone for the work it has done in helping me and then I find a pretty spot and return it (bury it) back into the earth.
As for using crystals to feng shui your house it is great idea. If you have family or friends that might get a bit weirded out if you started putting bamboo flutes and chinese symbols around the house, it is very easy to tuck a small tumbled stone of the approprite color, in the area you wish to enhance. After all with feng shui it is the intent that holds the power not the actual object. Also if there are any areas where energy seems stagnant or heavy use a clear quartz cluster, it will get the energy moving. Also please remember your crystals do need to be cared for i.e. cleaned and charged. To clean them I like to rinse mine off with cool water and to charge them I put them outside on the Solstices, Equinoxs and also under the full moon.
Crystals are also a non threatening way to feng shui your work space/cubicle. You can simply tell co-workers that you are a rock hound and love collecting different types of stones. Not only are stones great little feng shui helpers they are pretty to look at. If you shop around you can sometimes find them carved into animal shapes which then gives you the combined energy of the stone and the attributes of that animal.
There is a great feng shui book out there that is easy to understand and the woman is funny and down to earth. It's called "Move Your Stuff, Change Your Life" by Karen Rauch Carter. My financee never belived in this stuff until I pumped up my abundance corner with three large purple amythests. The next day he got a call from his doctor telling him he had over paid on a bill and that a refund check was in the mail. He is now a believer. I do know that Crystals and Gems vibrate on their own individual frequency, simular to human beings. It's important that when chossing cystels and gems tath we choose ones that vibrate frequency as close as possible as our own. [/color]

Personally I have found the best way to chose a crystal is to simply stand before them and let them talk to you. What I mean by that is you will be drawn to the one that is right for you or for the situation you are working on. You may even be drawn to more than one. If that is the case, most New Age stores will have an open copy of "Love is in the Earth" by Melody for you to look up the metaphysical properties of the stone you have chosen. Melody's book is considered the crystal bible for crystal lovers/collectors. If you are feeling drawn to crystals it would be a book worth adding to your home library.
Crystals are metaphysical tools from the mineral kingdom. Just as a carpenters toolbox isn't filled by just a hammer or a screwdriver, there are many different crystals for many different jobs that need to be done. Perhaps you are not feeling very loved, a piece of rose quartz will help with that. Perhaps you need to give a speach, carrying a piece of hemitite will help with any nervousness you may feel. Or carry a piece of sodalite. Sodalite is blue, blue is the color of the throat chakra therefore it will assist you to speak what it is you have to say. If you are not sure what stone you need to carry, then simply pick up a piece of clear quartz. Clear quartz seems to work with everything.
I have been acquiring crystals for many years now. I speak from experience when I say the right one will present itself to you. I remember when I first started collecting crystals people would tell me that the crystals would speak to me and I would laugh it off, that is until the day I had an argument with a Lemurian crystal. Let's just say it was insistant that it was coming home with me and it won. I knew the crystal wasn't for me and as I mentally argued that fact with it, the face of the person it was meant for was flashed across my mind. So I purchased the crystal and passed it on to it's rightful owner. Someone who NEVER would have entered a New Age store.
Which brings up a point worth mentioning. There are times you will find yourself being a go-between. I have had many instances where I have bought crystals and then given them to people as gifts. On occasion you will find that the person they want to go to is in NO way involved with anything New Age or metaphysical, which is why you are the go-between. So if you find yourself drawn to a crystal but you have this feeling that it really isn't for you, just ask who it is meant for. The name or face of person that flashes into your mind will be your answer.

Janet, sorry to take so long answering! Yes, I can tell a difference with the rose quartz chunks in my house. I put them in to attract romantic relationships/dates and they haven't done that but I think they've helped me heal my broken heart and be open again to receiving love and care from people. It's a very gentle crystal.
My other favorites:
Hematite - I don't find it cold and sterile. It's comforting and grounding to me. I guess everyone reacts differently to crystals based on individual need. And yeah, it's soft so jewelry made with it can break/chip. The little hematite rings especially break easily.
Moonstone: I wear this a lot also. It's a very yin, emotional, flowy kind of energy. It's good for getting in tune with that side of yourself and for me it's good for emotional release, and it's gorgeous! Every time I wear my pendant I get tons of compliments.
Blue lace agate: has a clear sharp energy, like the energy of the Ace of Swords tarot card, you know? Or maybe the Queen of Swords. Cut through all the [censored], see it/tell it like is, decisive kind of energy. I like to wear it when I'm feeling unsure of myself or when I have to speak in front of a lot of people. It's a good throat chakra crystal.
I have some amethyst too. I haven't worked with it much but it seems very soothing and calming.

Exactally when your standing before them and letting them talk to you is listening to their vibrating frequency. For those of you not sure what to do here's some methods one will work for you.
1. Close your eyes and quietly meditate for a few moments. Then open your eyes very quickly and pick up the very first stone to which your eye becomes naturally drawn.
2. Run your hand (either your left or right hand depending upon which you prefer to use) over all the stones available for selection. You will soon discover that one stone will 'stick' to your hand as if it is ' tacky' or surrounded with glue. This is your stone.
3.Instinctive you will just know which stone you should choose and which is the right one for you! You might feel as if the stone is jumping up and down shouting....ME ME Pick ME!!! LOL
If your choosing a stone for a friend follow the same guidelines you used to choose your but visualize as strong as possible a picture of your friends in your mind.

What great ideas and insights on crystals, Oceanlvr1111, Parthena, mtnmermaid, and LRMart! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Welcome to the New Age Forum, Oceanlvr1111!
Parthena, I had never heard of Love Is In The Earth. I'll have to look that up. I have no New Age or metaphysical stores near me, so I rely on the web to find appropriate books. It sounds like a great resource! Do you have any pictures up of your wire-wrapped crystals? I'd love to see them! I'd love to own more crystal jewelry...
Oceanlvr1111, I had no idea about hematite. Fascinating. I picked up all the beads (it wasn't pure hematite, although the main stone was hematite as well as some smaller beads), and put them in my jewelry box...thinking that I could buy some wire and fix it sometime. Sounds like that's not the best thing for me to do!
I can't get over how drawn I've been to Tiger's eye, citrine, and lemon scents. Yellow has never been one of my favorite colors (or brown!), and I used to lament the fact that my birthstone was yellow topaz (the ugliest gemstone in the world, I used to think!) Yet, for my birthday, I bought myself a citrine and diamond ring. I saw it in the window, it called out to me, and the ring was a perfect fit. I didn't even have to get it sized! My husband was surprised, saying 'I'd never guess you'd go for that kind of ring'. (I usually buy gold rings or blue sapphire and diamonds.)
Then, around Christmas time, I bought myself the coolest Tiger's Eye bracelet...made with thick chunks of different shaped stones (it lays flat, though).
And then there's my obsession with lemon: I bought tons of Lemon Meringue products with Bath and Body's new Tutti Dolci line, a lemon verbena Heri Bendle candle, and I just bought a different type of lemon body cream from C.O.Bigelow. I also bought a chunk of citrine last year (and I feel to get it out again!) I feel that chunk was for creativity, and I'm wondering if all this yellow stuff is to help me get in gear for writing my novel? I had pondered the 3rd chakra connection, but I'm not sure if that's all there is to this yellow/brown stones and lemon stuff! Any thoughts would be appreciated.
No problem, mtnmermaid! Life has a way of happening. Thanks for sharing your experience of rose quartz. Healing your heart...well, I'd say that's a wonderful gift from your stone! My husband has ZERO Earth in his chart; maybe that's why he likes hematite so much? I have little Earth in my chart...just Saturn in Taurus, a Cap Midheaven, and Pluto in Virgo. I'm mostly Water, then Air, then Fire. (I totally get the Queen of Swords reference! I never quite thought about crystals that way. I'll have to ponder my crystals and try to put words to the energy they give off. It may be tellingly helpful!)
Great discussion, all!
