Baha'is believe that World Peace or what we call 'Universal Peace' is possible and obtainable. Even more than 150 years ago Baha'u'llah knew that there could be no limit of Peace. Thus the question might be, Do you believe Universal Peace is possible?

Well first of all, we all have to learn, to accept everybody for who they are, not what they are, look past the race, creed, or sex of a person and celebrate their diversity.

So, Universal Peace??? What do you think?

With violence playing such a part in our world's history, it's easy to see why someone would have a hard time accepting the concept of universal peace. For me though, it's a reality that's growing closer every day.

Thanks to the internet and satellite communications, the things that have separated us, like national borders, languages, cultural and religious beliefs are becoming less of an obstacle. We're now able to speak openly with one another about the things that once caused fear and distrust between us.

I believe that as this trend continues, we will learn that our simililarities as human beings are greater than our differences. As we begin to trust and understand one another, the fear will subside and there will be no need for violence.

Yes. I believe that Universal Peace is possible.

If you believe it is possible then how would it be accomplished? Be specific.

I thought I was pretty specific before, but I'll try to explain a little more thoroughly.

Eventually (through technological advances and the passage of time) people who now seem strange or foreign to each other will become neighbors, friends and family members.

Of course we must each take responsibility of our own action or inaction in this regard. As I have said before I don't believe that things "just happen". I believe that we must actively participate in the continuing co-creation of the universe.

If God is our Father then it stands to reason that as we mature we will become more like him. Just as God's love is omnipresent, so too will ours become. When that happens violence will become obsolete.

It would take too long to explain all the personal experiences which have lead me to believe that with love all things are possible. Let me just say that faith is a powerful thing.

I have no physical evidence to prove mine, but the beautiful thing about faith is that it doesn't make any difference whether or not you agree with me, only that I'm true to my own beliefs.

I'm not at all interested in changing your faith, but I am always interested in what people believe and why. Your faith is something only you can decide. But if you ask me about mine, I'll be happy to share.

Yes, faith is powerful. The point is though, what you have faith in. Sincerity is not enough. In WWII there were three friends who joined the Air Corps together (true story). On one of their missions over Germany they were shot down and were forced to bail out. Two of the friends watched in horror as the third friend's chute did not open and he plunged to his death. When they reached the ground they rushed to his side and they found his palms bloodied from desperately pulling the rip cord. He was very sincere in his faith. The problem was in his haste to get out of the burning plane he had put his chute on backwards. It was impossible to get it to open. You see, your faith has to be founded on the truth. No amount of sincerity can make a lie the truth. And putting your faith in a lie is a waste. Faith alone cannot do it. You need to have faith in the truth.

I think world peace probably has to start individually, so that each person needs to learn self-love and then is able to properly show love to others - I'd equate self-love with self-peace in this regard. I do think it's possible, but I tend to think that it's unlikely as matters now stand.
